The Aurelian Symphony Orchestra was well up to the challenges posed to them. I particularly enjoyed the sensuous rasp of the trombones at the Sanctus which encouraged the choir to indulge themselves in the part writing
...the Aurelian Ensemble, dazzled the audience with an impressive and lively performance of this complex work...
The orchestra not only gave of their all in the splendid central hymn of praise, but also paid great attention in the lament, By the Waters of Babylon.
Rhythmically too the orchestra was extremely decisive - an essential requirement for an effective performance of this piece.
The Aurelian Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra truly excelled themselves with their confident solos and shattering ensembles...
The long silence at the end and the ensuing acclamation from the audience should have left them in no doubt as to the high quality of the performance!
